🚨 Proposed Legislation Could Undermine Our Schools 🚨
The Iowa Legislature is considering property tax reform (SSB1227 / HSB328) that would dramatically impact how schools are funded—and Gladbrook-Reinbeck CSD would be hit hard.
📉 We could lose over $2.2 million in PPEL funding
🚫 Our capacity to bond for building projects—even with voter approval—would be reduced
🏫 Paths forward to update our 100+ year-old secondary building, fix heating systems, add secure entries, or ensure ADA compliance would be greatly impacted if not made impossible.
We aren’t alone. Schools across Iowa—rural and urban—could face lasting harm. Every Iowa student deserves safe, modern, and equitable learning environments.

I read this wonderful book about friendship and kindness to my class last week. This first thing one of my students said was, "I love that book! Do we get one?" I had to tell the kids no, and they were extremely disappointed. I went home and checked my book donation fund and found out that I still had enough money left that I could buy this book for each student in my class. You should have seen how excited they were today when I told them that they were each receiving their very own copy! What a great way to start our week in TK!
