Yesterday the 7th-12th graders had an SEL and Service Learning Day! Students started the day by hearing from Al Kerns, a longtime educator turned motivational speaker, about character and integrity. Then they got to participate in various activities led by the teachers. Everyone enjoyed a grill out lunch and time spent outside in the beautiful weather! After lunch we heard from members of the Lions Club about why community service is important and some of the service projects going on in the area. In the afternoon, students participated in service projects in Gladbrook, Reinbeck, and Morrison, doing everything from raking leaves to painting parking lots! It was a full day of fun, learning, and work!

Rebel football will host Kee High (Lansing) in the first round of the 8-player playoffs. This will be next Friday, October 25 at 7PM.
Tickets are 8+ fees and will go on sale at 9AM on Tuesday, October 22 for through HomeTown Ticketing.

Today was our October Ag in the Classroom. The topic this month was pigs. We played a true/false game, learned about by products from a pig, and had a snack. Thank you to Grundy County Farm Bureau and Shari for teaching us about pigs!
That's a wrap on Farm Week at Little Rebels Preschool. Farmers are an important part of our community and the kids loved all things farm this week! Lots of fun had in our 3 day PM.

Congratulations to our JH Cross Country team as they compete in the STATE CROSS COUNTRY MEET. They will be taking off from the JH/HS parking lot Saturday(tomorrow) October 19th at 11:15 am to head to Ankeny Centennial High School, 2220 NW State St, Ankeny, IA 50023 for the State Cross Country Meet! They have done such a traffic job this year we would love to have anyone that can make it to come out and send them off in style. Meet in the back Parking Lot at 11:00 and give them a cheer! #rebelnation
This week our mystery reader was Pat Brown, the GR transportation director. He read the book Mystery on the Docks to the third-grade students today. We have one more week of mystery readers left!!!
