8th graders finished their climate unit by making board games over global climate change, greenhouse gases, and pollution. Some board game names included "Earth in Distress", "Pollution Planet", and "Trash Land". It was a fun day of playing each other's board games and being board game reviewers!

At last night’s NICL Conference track meet, Kennedy Brant set the school record in the 400M hurdles! She won with a time of 1:06.72.
That breaks the record set back in 1996 by Marcy Messerly with a time of 1:07.89.
Kennedy has also tied the school record in the high jump with a jump of 5’6”. That mark ties Alexis Krull who jumped 5’6” in 2007.

Conference golf at Phesant Ridge in Cedar Falls today. Boys ended the day in 11th place out of 15 shooting a 351, a team low for the season. 💙
Team was led by both Brayden Utter and Anthony Knaack with a pair of 87s, followed by Chad Gutknecht (88) and Michael Boyd (89) to get the team score. Austen Mathern (90) and Cole Fleshner (94) also had a good round.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School theater department will participate in the 2025 Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards Showcase, presented by EMC Insurance Companies, in honor of the school's achievements for its November production of Sister Act.
Produced by Des Moines Performing Arts as the culmination of a year-long education initiative, the Showcase will be held at the Des Moines Civic Center on Thursday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. and will recognize a total of 103 adjudicated schools from across the entire state.
Select students will represent Gladbrook-Reinbeck by performing in a collaborative inter-school medley led by a guest Broadway music director and choreographer.
Vanessa Arvizu-Ersland will also participate in the Triple Threat Award program with other advanced performing students. In addition to a special performance at the showcase, students will audition for theater camp scholarships and the opportunity to represent Iowa at the Jimmy Awards, or National High School Musical Theatre Awards, in New York City this summer.
Mailea McLean will showcase her award-winning work as Stage Manager as part of the program's Behind-The-Scenes Awards track.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School will also be recognized with the following awards and honors:
Production Award for Outstanding Achievement - Distinguished Scene for Sister Act
Tickets to the Showcase, which start at $15, will go on sale on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10 AM at DMPA.org, the Des Moines Civic Center Ticket Office, and by phone at 515-246-2300.
The Awards Showcase will be live-streamed at IowaPBS.org as part of a collaboration with Iowa PBS. Iowa PBS will also broadcast a highlights special of the event later this summer on dates to be announced.
GCGR girls postseason soccer pairings are out! We will be hosting Williamsburg on Monday, May 19 at 7 PM.
