The TK class enjoyed wearing their pajamas and making Cat in the Hat hats during their first day of Read Across America Week.

Rebel Nation, We have an update on the pep rally and departure time for girls state basketball. Due to the forecasted weather late Tuesday night into Wednesday, the Rebel girls basketball team and Rebel cheer will be departing for Des Moines at 3:30 PM on Tuesday. There will be a pep rally in the HS gym that staff, students, and fans are inviting to attend that will begin at 3:15 PM. Once the pep rally has concluded, our student-athletes will be leaving from the back of the HS and will be traveling the routes through Reinbeck and Gladbrook as previously mentioned while be escorted via firetruck. Come out and show your support tomorrow before the departure and let's go Rebels!

He asked if he was from the G-R area. He informed us that he has been a ref for some of our basketball games and wanted to wish us luck at state, but on top of that he said, "G-R has some really great kids, they are nice to work with." RPOs: what a great offseason of workouts for our 40 kids who put in the extra work! We will have RPOs one time this week on Tuesday morning as HS track starts after school this week. The extra time off is well deserved to support our State Basketball Teams! #rebelnation

A big day for the Rebels! At District Speech, 12 of our 18 performances are moving on to State Speech (March 15 @ Starmont High School). Vanessa, Shelby, Carly, Nattalee, Akeelah, Lydia, Jayla, Corbin, and Lexi are moving on with 1 ratings. Brenden, Felix, and Orion received 2s with commendable performances as well! Now onto basketball!

Thank you to the GR FFA for inviting us to the petting zoo on Friday. The kids enjoyed coming over to see the animals.

Rebel Nation, Here's some information regarding girls state basketball and the timeline for next Wednesday, March 5th: Dismissal- School will be dismissing at 1:20 PM. Pep Rally: There will be a pep rally in the HS gym beginning at 11:15 AM on Wednesday, March 5th. Bus Departure and route: The girls bus will depart from behind the HS at 11:30 AM. It will head north on Broad St and go to Main St. It will turn left and go west on Main St until Blackhawk St. The bus will turn left and go south on Blackhawk St and wind up going past the front of the high school. Once the bus arrives in Gladbrook it will turn right onto Washington St and drive south until reaching 2nd St. It will turn left and go west on 2nd St until reaching Lincoln St. It will turn left on Lincoln St and go north until reaching Highway 96. Then it will be heading to Des Moines! Tickets: Tickets are available now through the Iowa Events Center website. They are listed at $12. They can be purchased online or in person at Wells Fargo Arena. The TK students were very excited to each receive the book Cowboy Small today! We had read this book as part of our cowboy unit and loved it. Thank you to everyone who donated. These kids LOVE receiving their free book each month!

In TK we read the book Cactus Hotel. We learned about the Saguaro cactus and the many animals that live in and around the cactus. The kids each made their own cactus hotel, and we used their hotels for addition problems.
