Last week, these TK engineers worked with partners to build a bridge that would go across the rushing river. The bridge had to be sturdy enough that their horse could walk across it.

Today our kindergarteners had a special visit from local expert Hunter Lott from the Grundy County Conservation Office! 🌿🪶
He brought our Native American unit to life by helping students make meaningful connections to what they’ve been learning in the classroom.
The kids did a wonderful job listening, asked great questions, and loved the hands-on experiences. It was so exciting to see them engaged, curious, and connecting their recent learning in such a meaningful way. Thank you, Hunter, for an amazing learning experience!

Next Tuesday, January 27th is when we will be having the Red Out for the American Heart Association as we host Grundy Center.
During starting lineups for both the girls and boys games, the starters will be throwing out these red basketballs that are signed by the players! There will be 5 basketballs with signatures from the girls team and 5 basketballs with signatures from the boys team.
Will you be able to catch one? You will need to show up for your chance! Let's pack the gym and have a GReat night!

As part of our Cowboy/Cowgirl Week, we read the book Cactus Hotel and learned about the Saguaro cactus and the many different animals that make the cactus their home. In math, the kids made their own cactus hotels and created addition problems with the birds living in their hotels. The best part of the day was seeing how excited the kids were to receive their own copy of the book Cactus Hotel!

High school players, coaches, and cheerleaders will be wearing red t-shirts for their warm-up shirts. We will also have a director representing the American Heart Association that will be selling t-shirts outside of the gym and we will have activities planned during both varsity half times.

It's Extension Week during WIN at GR JH/HS. In Mrs. Rowe's room, the topic is Babysitting Clinic. Thanks to Jenny Hulme, Tama County, and Andrea Traeger, Grundy County, Extension Offices, this group talked about age-appropriate toys and choking hazards today. Each student then got to make a toy that can be used in various ways acr different age-spans. These toys can be taken with the students when they babysit.
The TK kids practiced using perseverance during our Rattlesnake Round-Up!
Congrats to Senior Captain Jayla Hemann for being selected to the 2026 Shrine Bowl All-Star Cheer Squad. This is Jayla's 2nd year being selected to cheer at the Iowa Shrine Bowl. This is an incredible honor and Jayla will represent Rebel Nation proudly. The game will be played on July 19th at the UNI dome.

Congratulations to our very own IFCA 8-Man Coach of the Year. We didn't have just one GReat coach win one of these awards, we had two! 💙🏈
Coach Olson received 1 of the 2 coaches to win the IFCA 2025 8-man Regional Coach of the Year Award.
Coach Bengen won IFCA 2025 8-Man Assistant Coach of the Year Award.
Both coaches received this award for all their hard work and dedication leading the team to the Dome!
