Our teachers and staff are officially moving in, unpacking boxes, organizing classrooms, arranging furniture, and beginning to turn this newly renovated building into a place that feels like GR Elementary again.
And we simply have to say THANK YOU!

We're looking for volunteers from our Gladbrook-Reinbeck family and community to help teachers and staff prepare classrooms, unpack materials, move furniture, organize supplies, and complete a variety of tasks that will help us get ready for an unforgettable school year.

The volleyball team took time out of their busy practice schedule to have some bonding time doing escape rooms. All 5 rooms made it under the allotted time and memories were made by all.
🏗️ Elementary Construction Update: We're Almost Home!
We have reached another major milestone in the transformation of Gladbrook-Reinbeck Elementary!
This week, we officially reached our substantial completion date and completed our walkthrough to develop the project's punch list. While there is still work to be completed, we are quickly transitioning from a construction site back to a school, and the progress happening each day is incredible!
Over the next several days, crews will continue finishing classroom flooring, countertops, base, alarm systems, and other details throughout the building. The terrazzo floors are being refinished and polished, professional cleaners are moving through the building, and work continues in the office and addition.
Our current plan is to begin welcoming teachers back into their newly renovated classrooms on Thursday!
🪑 Furniture & Move-In
Furniture has begun arriving at multiple locations across the district, with additional shipments coming over the next several days. Our furniture installation team will begin working alongside district staff to assemble and place furniture as quickly as possible.
We're also incredibly grateful to have some extra muscle helping us with the move! Members of our GR football and volleyball teams will be assisting with moving furniture and materials into classrooms, while our Buildings & Grounds team and Peters Construction continue working together to get everything where it needs to go.
There will still be work happening around our staff as they begin setting up classrooms, and some finishing work will continue after school begins. Our contractors have been tremendous partners throughout this process and will continue scheduling that work to minimize disruption to students and staff.
🏫 From Construction Site to Classroom
This is the part we've been waiting for.
Over the last several months, spaces that generations of GR students and staff have known have been completely transformed. New floors, ceilings, lighting, HVAC, technology, finishes, furniture, safety improvements, and so much more are coming together to create learning environments our students and staff will enjoy for years to come.
And, of course, outside sits an incredible new playground, made possible in large part through the extraordinary support and fundraising efforts of our GR PTO and community!
Will absolutely everything be perfect on day one? Probably not.
Construction projects of this size come with punch-list items, final deliveries, adjustments, and finishing touches. Some cabinetry and other components will arrive after the school year begins, and we'll continue working through those pieces while keeping teaching and learning at the center of every decision.
But each day, we're getting closer to 100%.

As we enter these final days, we're also looking for ways our community can help our teachers prepare for students!
Over the next couple of weeks, there may be opportunities for volunteers to help with things like making copies, organizing student materials, preparing workbooks, and other simple tasks that give our teachers more time to focus on creating incredible classrooms and preparing for their students.

The Gladbrook-Reinbeck FFA Livestock Judging Teams have been busy this summer with contests!
The senior Team consists of Prycely Beard, Lane Buchheit, Kinzee Hemann, and Parker Schmidt. Junior team members include Berkley Beard, Paige Clubine, Quinn Thede, and Reese Schildroth.
Throughout the season, members have evaluated market and breeding classes of cattle, hogs, sheep, and goats. They also answered questions about the classes and provided oral reasons. They have officially wrapped up the summer season and will be taking a break until fall.

Rebel Nation, I would like to thank all the athletes and families that let their athlete participate in football. We have so many kids out for football and so many others that assistant as managers, statisticians, video personnel fans and much more. Take a look at all the #s with the G-R Football program. We had 47 kids attend the K-4 camp coached by the Jrs/Srs on our HS team. We had 27 kids attend the 5th-8th grade camp coached by Fr/So and the Thunder/Lightning, JH FB coaches. Along with that, 29 HS athletes attended our HS camp a week ago coached by our HS coaches. That's over over 100 kids playing football! #rebelnation

Rebel Nation, after the first week of HS fb practice & the conclusion of all of our K-12th grade camps we wanted to share some of the exciting #s with the G-R Football program. We have 80 kids playing in our TK-4 Flag FB league with over 30 coaches. A special thanks to the Lions Club, Re/Max Concepts for sponsorship along with all the time and effort Sean Babinat has put into coordinating this league. Come watch our kids play on a Thursday night at 7:00 in Reinbeck, or see them showcase their talents at the halftime of our first home Varsity FB game on Thursday, Sept 10 in Gladbrook. If those don't work stop up at the practice fields in Reinbeck on our final game of the season "Under the Light" at the Bowl game on Friday, Sept 11 starting at 7:30/8:00 as a more specific schedule will be sent out at a later date! #rebelnation
