Our kindergarteners put ALL five senses to work as we wrapped up our 5 Senses Unit!
👃 Smelled scents to see if they were fruity
✋ Felt mystery objects and made our names in Braille
👅 Tasted foods that were sweet, salty, sour, and bitter
👂 Listened to sounds and went on a hearing hunt and learned about Ray Charles
👀 Took a virtual nature hike to explore with our eyes
Our little detectives had SO much fun exploring, sharing what they know, and learning along the way! Hands-on learning is the BEST! 💙🔍

G-R CAPS associates had a great opportunity to visit Hudson CAPS at Bill Colwell. During the visit, we learned about how to be more productive and what we want our futures to look like. We were encouraged to think about our personal goals and steps that we can take to get where we want to be. It was a great opportunity to learn more about ourselves and what is important for our careers.
A big thanks to Hudson CAPS and Bill Colwell for having us. As well as Nate Clayberg from the CAPS Network for sharing his time with us.

Mrs. Fleshner’s class is learning all about division! Today, the students listened to the book The Doorbell Rang, which tells the story of children sharing cookies as more and more friends come over. After listening to the story, each student received a bag of cookies and worked to figure out how to share them evenly with 12 friends. This hands-on activity helped the students practice division with remainders. Math is always fun when it ends with a treat!

We'd like to send out a GReat big thank you to LSB for volunteering in the concession stand (and sponsoring free popcorn!) on October 2nd when our varsity football team defeated Collins-Maxwell. Also, a GReat big thank you to Steve Murty and the Tama County Cattlemen for grilling hamburgers. And last, but not least, a GReat big thank you to Pastor John Granchie and Peace Church for sponsoring $5 coupons to the concession stand and providing a $2,500 donation. Your generosity is amazing.
This Friday we will have the Grundy County Pork Producers making Pulled Pork Tacos!! If you see a Grundy County Pork Producer tell them thank you from the GR Fine Arts Boosters!!
HELP NEEDED
This Friday, October 16th, our varsity football team will be facing North Tama. We will be partially staffed with some members of the GR musical cast and crew, but we need more help. If you want to get to know some of our musical students and staff, sign up!
It's going to be a chilly night, but it's alway a bit warmer in the concession stand.
You don't have to work a window or handle money if you don't want to. WE HAVE JOBS FOR EVERYONE, from wrapping hot dogs to serving nachos to popping popcorn. We would love your help.
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - This qualifies as volunteer hours for your Silver Cord.
We encourage students to help in the concession stand. Here are our current guidelines for our varsity games. First, the adult to student ratio is 2 to 1. Since we need 12 volunteers, this breaks down to 8 adults and 4 students. If we have more adults, we can have more students. And second, all students 6th grade and below need to have an adult (parent, etc) volunteering, too.
We will again be accepting credit card payments. Only adults and high school students will be allowed to check people out at the window.

Today was our junior class College Visits Day! All of our juniors had the opportunity to go on one of two college visit trips. One group went to Hawkeye to participate in their Trades Exploration Event. They did hands on activities with the Industrial Automation, Autotech, Welding, and HVAC programs. The other group toured both UNI and Wartburg campuses and got to hear from admissions counselors about 4 year college programs. It was a great day for students to explore their future options!

Tickets are on sale now for next Monday's first round postseason match for GR volleyball! Admission is $10 and prices are set by the IGHSAU.
We will be hosting Meskwaki Settlement. The match will begin at 7 PM.
Activity passes WILL NOT be accepted into postseason home events. You can gain admission through the following ways:
1. Use cash at the gate 2. Use credit/debit at the gate 3. Purchase tickets online ahead of time

This Friday October 16th will be HS parents night for fall activities: Football, football cheer, cross country and band. This will be for student-athletes in grades 9-12 that are involved in those activities previously mentioned.
We will have our recognition at halftime of the varsity football game. The order will be as follows:
1. Football 2. Football cheer 3. Cross country 4. Band
There will be an announcement prior to halftime for seniors parents in football, football cheer, and cross country to come down to the sideline of the football field where Mr. Grooms will meet you and get in order and ready to go.
