On Monday, the third-grade students played Array Bingo. Arrays are one way to represent multiplication facts, which we are beginning to learn.

A reminder that we will have a drawing for two autograph varsity volleyball posters!
You can write your first and last name on a piece of pink paper, fold it in half, and put it in the bowl. One entry per person. This will be at the ticket taking table. Time to enter will begin at 5:00 PM and go until 6:45 PM.
We will draw two separate winners prior to beginning our Parents Night recognition. Winners can come down the scorers table to get their poster.
After the drawing we will recognize our 9-11 players and their parents. Following that, we will recognize our seniors as they will walk with their parents from the hallway outside of the gym into the gym at half court.
Also, the varsity starters will be throwing out pink volleyballs during lineups. These volleyballs are autographed by 9-12 players.
Make sure you're in the bleachers for your chance to catch one of these limited pink autographed volleyball!

Today the third-grade students had Ag in the Classroom. They compared apples and pumpkins. They used their 5 senses to compare red and green apples. They ended the time by making pumpkin pie pudding.

For any postseason volleyball or football taking place at home this fall season, spectators can use the following forms of admission:

- Credit/debit card
- Purchase tickets ahead of time online and have them scanned at the gate
*This will begin next Monday October 19th as volleyball will host Meskwaki Settlement in the first round of postseason.

Tomorrow night will be Parents Night for volleyball!
Before will recognize the high school volleyball players, we will be giving away two signed varsity posters. You will be able to fill out your name on a piece of paper at the ticket taking table and put it into a bowl and we will draw two winners for those posters!

Sometimes, the best stories are the ones that others discover and want to tell!
Recently, a couple of young documentary filmmakers with a passion for football heard about the incredible 8-player football programs here in Iowa. As they explored teams and stories worth sharing, they found their way to Gladbrook-Reinbeck!
One thing I want to emphasize is that this was not something our district initiated, commissioned, or paid to have produced. These young filmmakers simply love the game of football and wanted to tell the stories of programs and communities where the game means so much.
And that's what makes this opportunity especially neat!
In small communities like ours, football is about more than Friday night scores and wins. It's about tradition, relationships, hard work, community pride, and generations of people who have helped build something special.
We are grateful that these filmmakers chose to spend time with our student-athletes, coaches, and program, providing an opportunity to share a little piece of what makes GR special with an audience beyond our communities.
Thank you to the filmmakers for recognizing that some pretty incredible stories come from small-town Iowa!

🍕 Lunchtime Highlight! 🥝
Today’s cafeteria menu hit all the right spots! Our students enjoyed a classic favorite—Pizza Burgers packed with rich tomato sauce, melted cheese, and savory pepperoni.
To balance out the meal, we served a special fruit feature: Kiwi Berries! Many students have gotten to try these bite-sized treats over the last few weeks. Here are a few fun facts about today's fresh fruit:
*Edible Peel: Unlike regular fuzzy kiwis, kiwi berries have completely smooth, fuzz-free skin, meaning you can pop the whole fruit straight into your mouth like a grape!
*Nutrient Powerhouse: Pound for pound, kiwi berries contain more Vitamin C than oranges and are packed with fiber, potassium, and antioxidants.
*Miniature Twins: On the inside, they look almost identical to a full-sized kiwi—complete with a bright green center and tiny black seeds.
*Brief Harvest Window: Kiwi berries have a remarkably short harvesting season, typically available for only a few weeks in early autumn, making them a special, limited-time treat!
